Think of it as a long term review of the Fuse and a compilation of our travels in our new coach. Since I am new to RVs, I am sure I will be somewhat confused and amused by what happens as we go down this path. We recently had a short cold snap and believe it or not we had no doctors appointments for Sonya, her parents or myself. We took the opportunity to do an overnighter up the road up to Warner Robbins, GA and Robbins Air Force base to the <a href="https://museumofaviation.org">Museum of Aviation</a> that is located there.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MFs5ecxG4Xk/YX_adg4qiJI/AAAAAAAAYFY/89LvZXNnx4wEpLowlcpYpgWvM_JMzoiIACLcBGAsYHQ/s1132/Screen%2BShot%2B2021-11-01%2Bat%2B8.15.19%2BAM.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="TLH to Warner Robbins Route" border="0" data-original-height="1132" data-original-width="820" height="200" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MFs5ecxG4Xk/YX_adg4qiJI/AAAAAAAAYFY/89LvZXNnx4wEpLowlcpYpgWvM_JMzoiIACLcBGAsYHQ/w145-h200/Screen%2BShot%2B2021-11-01%2Bat%2B8.15.19%2BAM.png" width="145" /></a></div><p>Warner Robbins is located 3 hours north of us, approximately 150 miles from the house. So we packed up the Fuse on Tuesday night and left on Wednesday morning after I got back from an 8am doctors appointment. OK, our schedules weren't perfectly clear but close enough. It was a beautiful day and we had a really nice drive up US-319 to Tifton and then we jumped on I-75 up to Warner-Robbins. It was a leisurely ride and time went by super fast.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dfocMiLLqDE/YX_bRl-Pd5I/AAAAAAAAYFo/r2gGXetZr5sdobeHc7Lv0ybqlK2ickXGgCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1480.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Fuse at Robbins AFB" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dfocMiLLqDE/YX_bRl-Pd5I/AAAAAAAAYFo/r2gGXetZr5sdobeHc7Lv0ybqlK2ickXGgCLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_1480.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><br /><p>The museum is great. It is located just outside the Air Force Base so you do not have to pass through any sort of security and there is a huge amount of parking. Not really any shade to park under but you could put several hundred class A motorhomes in their parking lot. Another great thing about this museum is that admission is free. This museum is owned by the Air Force and is the second largest Air Force Museum behind the Air Force Museum in Dayton. Donations are appreciated and there are several ways to provide support if you want.</p><p>I am just going to leave a number of the photos from inside and outside. There are well over 150 aircraft on display both inside and outside. You could spend most of the day here looking at the aircraft and reading the information on the displays. One of the most interesting things is that you can watch as aircraft are being restored in one of the hangers. While we were there 4 different aircraft were being brought back to be put on display.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BWPB1aAmkMQ/YX_dqjALdkI/AAAAAAAAYFw/mX-BAzXTT28-4DLUCufe0Pci3S31-R8dQCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1440.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; We could have driven back to Tallahassee but what is the fun in that. But there was one thing we had to stop at on the way. There is a <a href="https://buc-ees.com">Buck-ee's</a> in Warner-Robbins and even better, it is at the exit you use on the Interstate to go toad from the Museum. We got some fuel there, not because we really needed it, filling up only took 5 gallons but because the sun is still super hot in the south and we wanted to park the Fuse under the shade of the over hang while we went in. I felt guilty not getting fuel if I was blocking a pump. No complaints Buck-ee's has hundreds of pumps, most were not being used so I was not causing a backup. </p><p>While at Buck-ees we got our food for dinner, a BBQ brisket sandwich and a BBQ Turkey sandwich. Though not the best BBQ I have ever eaten, it is good enough to stop if going by to pick up some up for lunch or dinner and it is sold at a fair price.</p><p>After picking up our dinner we went 15 min down the road to our stop for the night at <a href="https://twinoaksrvpark.com">Twin Oaks RV Park</a> in Elko, GA.</p><p>The milage for this trip is not complete since I did not fill up when I got home but we did pretty good. We averaged somewhere around 18mpg for this excursion. Chalk this up to the slower speeds (60mph) for half or more of this trip up and down US-319 and the really nice conditions on the Georgia roads.</p><p><br /></p>Don Pacehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13290023999226091298noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5578959524496776874.post-1628754363266307832021-10-18T15:47:00.004-04:002021-10-18T15:47:53.295-04:00Fusing in the Ozarks Fall 2021 Rally - Day 8 & 9 - Russelville, AR to Tupelo, MS to Home<p>After a nice overnight stay in Russelville we started our journey back home. The first leg was back to Tupelo and the Campground at Barnes Crossing. Sorry no photos from this part of the trip. We just drove 5-6 hours a day fro both days to get home. </p><p>We started out on Tuesday morning after a nice stay at Ivy's Cove in Russelville. After stopping for some diesel, off we went. Going back along a path we had already done is not as much fun as we have when seeing new things but it was the shortest path to home. Interestingly enough our milage was not as good as the day before. On this stretch of Interstate highway we only averaged 14.7mpg. After fueling we headed another 20 miles down the road to the <a href="https://www.cgbarnescrossing.com">Campground at Barnes Crossing</a> in Tupelo. We got our spot assignment and surprisingly enough, it was the same exact spot we were in 1 week previous.</p><p>After a good nights stay at Barnes Crossing we headed for home. I filled up twice on this last day. First outside of Montgomery where I got 13.4mpg and the second time at the Walmart just North of Dothan, AL and on that tank we got 15.7mpg. The 15.7mpg is a little misleading since this was mostly on US231 at 65mph.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vyAolKzwGPk/YW2rKHTJMwI/AAAAAAAAYE0/yl9POrHum2k6ssKURcKR89J4dghSA0i2gCLcBGAsYHQ/s1374/Screen%2BShot%2B2021-10-18%2Bat%2B1.12.41%2BPM.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Trip map" border="0" data-original-height="1036" data-original-width="1374" height="241" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vyAolKzwGPk/YW2rKHTJMwI/AAAAAAAAYE0/yl9POrHum2k6ssKURcKR89J4dghSA0i2gCLcBGAsYHQ/w320-h241/Screen%2BShot%2B2021-10-18%2Bat%2B1.12.41%2BPM.png" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p>Ok so lets see how well the Fuse did for the whole trip. We traveled a total of 2,034 miles ignoring the Dothan to Tallahassee leg. We did not fuel back up once we got home and Dothan is only 70 miles from the house. We consumed a total of 129.38 gallons of fuel. This works out to 15.72 miles per gallon for the entire trip. </p><p>We used very little propane on the trip but we did fill up at the KOA in Harrison. It has been several years since we got propane and the tank showed 1/4 tank. We filled up and it used 5.3 gallons to fill it up.</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p>Don Pacehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13290023999226091298noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5578959524496776874.post-24192321409741961092021-10-18T15:42:00.002-04:002021-10-18T15:42:37.931-04:00Fusing in the Ozarks Fall 2021 Rally - Day 7 - Claremore, OK - Russelville, AR <p><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9TFfaCwkp5k/YW2OKd5ZpkI/AAAAAAAAYEQ/187fgZ-c4RcmswN7c7X_5jWRiLUi6gv2wCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1403.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Wil Rogers Downs" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9TFfaCwkp5k/YW2OKd5ZpkI/AAAAAAAAYEQ/187fgZ-c4RcmswN7c7X_5jWRiLUi6gv2wCLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_1403.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><span style="font-family: inherit;"><p><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></p>We started out Day 7 in Claremore, OK at the Will Rogers Downs KOA. Our original plans were to go into Tulsa and see the Tulsa Air and Space Museum and then go to the Five Civilized Tribes Museum in Muskogee. </span><span style="font-family: inherit;">Sonya and I decided to invoke our new retired lifestyle options and change the plan and make it an easy day. We skipped the Air and </span>Space<span style="font-family: inherit;"> Museum and headed </span>straight<span style="font-family: inherit;"> to the Five Tribes Museum making it a short day. As part of our reset </span>we also<span style="font-family: inherit;"> decided to skip Fort Smith, AR. It was closed so seeing it would have been outside only. We would travel a little further down the road and to stay at the <a href="http://www.ivyscove.com/home.html">Ivy's Cove RV Retreat</a> again.</span><p></p><p><span style="font-family: inherit;">So off several toll roads and on to Muskogee. We stopped to see the </span><a href="http://www.fivetribes.org" style="font-family: inherit;">Five Civilized Tribes Museum</a><span style="font-family: inherit;">. Siri continued to have a since of humor and brought us up a road that was </span>Singh<span style="font-family: inherit;"> and full of switchbacks once we got off the Interstate. Anything bigger than a Fuse would not have made it. She failed to note that by adding a couple of </span>minutes<span style="font-family: inherit;"> to the trip we could have gotten there on nice wide </span>straight<span style="font-family: inherit;"> roads with almost no change in elevation. Siri has had a lot of laughs as she tried to kill us on this trip.</span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DSNUvtEIMyg/YW2Ob1l7_SI/AAAAAAAAYEc/gInGj2cRjtAYXzVe6ywjPKJHw9fiZLzAQCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1407.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Union Agency Building" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DSNUvtEIMyg/YW2Ob1l7_SI/AAAAAAAAYEc/gInGj2cRjtAYXzVe6ywjPKJHw9fiZLzAQCLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_1407.jpg" width="200" /></a><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0HxNGuh6UOA/YW2ObhaDX0I/AAAAAAAAYEY/6WC77wfhPAEWSZiV1xdPFovGcrH_rVZqQCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1408.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Union Agency Building" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0HxNGuh6UOA/YW2ObhaDX0I/AAAAAAAAYEY/6WC77wfhPAEWSZiV1xdPFovGcrH_rVZqQCLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_1408.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span><p></p><p><span style="font-family: inherit;">The Five Civilized Tribes museum is located next to the VA hospital in Muskogee, OK. We stopped at a <a href="https://www.braums.com">Braums Ice Cream & Dairy Store</a> just outside of Ft. Smith. We had seen signs for several on our travels around Oklahoma, Missouri and Arkansas but had never stopped in. Well we won't make the mistake of passing one up again. The ice cream was great. I had an orange freeze that was out of this world. Next time we will stop at one and try out the breakfast menu or the burgers and shakes.</span></p>Then we continued on to our stop for the night in Russelville, AR. We stayed again at </span><a href="http://www.ivyscove.com/home.html" style="font-family: inherit;">Ivy's Cove RV Retreat</a><span style="font-family: inherit;">. We thought that this was a perfect one night stop RV park for us a week earlier and this time as well. This time was a little different. They were full for the night when we called but when we said we were in a 23 foot Fuse he said he had one spot so long as we did not mind being in the last overflow site. No problem from us. Unlike the last time we stopped and were in a 50-60 foot </span>space, this time we were in a space that was 25 feet long. Nay longer than the fuse and we would not have fit. Good news was it was next to the laundry/bath house so we were set. It is interesting that Ivy's Cove is not the fanciest campground but it sure does feel comfortable to us and we would stop again..<div><br /></div><div>So on this segment of our journey we traveled 248 miles and got 15.5mpg. All of this was on the interstate system at 70mpg. <br /><p></p><p><br /></p><p><span style="font-family: inherit;"> </span></p></div>Don Pacehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13290023999226091298noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5578959524496776874.post-74416236009270526482021-10-05T19:56:00.000-04:002021-10-05T19:56:52.255-04:00KOA Tulsa NE / Will Rogers Downs KOA Journey - Claremore, OK<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uOSlT_WifXA/YVzkYuet-qI/AAAAAAAAYCk/xsqYodjAG8YlWohLecCTM46ti7MzXzw-ACLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1395.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="KOA - Will Rogers Downs" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uOSlT_WifXA/YVzkYuet-qI/AAAAAAAAYCk/xsqYodjAG8YlWohLecCTM46ti7MzXzw-ACLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_1395.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><p>We spent Sunday night in the <a href="https://koa.com/campgrounds/tulsa/"><span face="arial, sans-serif" style="background-color: white; caret-color: rgb(77, 81, 86); color: #4d5156; font-size: 14px;">Tulsa NE / Will Rogers Downs KOA </span><span face="arial, sans-serif" style="background-color: white; caret-color: rgb(77, 81, 86); color: #4d5156; font-size: 14px;">Journey</span></a>. The campground is located just outside of Claremore, OK. A couple of miles off of I-44. First thing of note is that this is located at the Cherokee Casino / Will Rogers Downs Track, so if lost, follow the signs there. It was rather unique to drive up and see the campground next to a reasonably large horse track. Did not even see the casino until we got to the park, it seemed rather small. The campground was pretty large with over 100 sites and overflow sites in the racetrack parking lot. </p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XcVOGqeaC2k/YVzjzDeIcaI/AAAAAAAAYCQ/wGuvozSBS0MvoAlSpEPPstx9pXQyxkAKgCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1393.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="KOA - Will Rogers Downs" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XcVOGqeaC2k/YVzjzDeIcaI/AAAAAAAAYCQ/wGuvozSBS0MvoAlSpEPPstx9pXQyxkAKgCLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_1393.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><p></p><p>Our site was a back-on site right across the road from the office. Well timing is everything and we missed out.</p><p>Being at the casino/track, there was food available for dine-in or takeout. We did a lot of idling in the park as we did the auto tour around the battlefield.</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p>Don Pacehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13290023999226091298noreply@blogger.com0Wilson's Creek National Battlefield, 6424 W Farm Rd 182, Republic, MO 65738, USA37.109157 -93.409520836.225314620949504 -94.5081536125 37.9929993790505 -92.3108879875tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5578959524496776874.post-61707216796176562262021-10-03T22:01:00.003-04:002021-10-03T22:01:56.832-04:00Fusing in the Ozarks Fall 2021 Rally - Day 6 - Harrison, AR<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-krxjpmZ_ttE/YVpfkzPjasI/AAAAAAAAYAo/FSpeU69qpfEYoTH_Xb4tClIphbUoaIa5wCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1374.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Fusing in the Ozarks" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-krxjpmZ_ttE/YVpfkzPjasI/AAAAAAAAYAo/FSpeU69qpfEYoTH_Xb4tClIphbUoaIa5wCLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_1374.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><p>Day 6 of our trip and day 3, the last day of the Fusing in the Ozarks rally started off great. This is always a great time to see how imaginative and how many experts and mechanical geniuses we have in the group. </div><div><br /></div><div>As part of this Rob G. and some others went to all the coaches and checked gutters. You need to make sure the drains under the front window are kept clear of dirt and debris. If not, the water can overflow and damage the Transit air filter (passenger side drain) or one of the main electric connectors (drivers side drain). Out of the 25 units that were inspected, 5 had very clogged drains and they were remediated.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-L4wWjZr-Zdo/YVpaC1-Zj0I/AAAAAAAAYAc/ayoUlyDsrKUDXiiupamD-nx3Th_mGadOwCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1361.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Fusing in the Ozarks - EKKO" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-L4wWjZr-Zdo/YVpaC1-Zj0I/AAAAAAAAYAc/ayoUlyDsrKUDXiiupamD-nx3Th_mGadOwCLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_1361.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>The main attraction seemed to be the EKKO Winnebago sent. A large number of people get there a day or two early but the official start is usually on Friday. The rally in Harrison was no different. More units rolled in all day long until 25 units were at the park. Well To be exact 24 Fuses and 1 Ekko but it is a really just a younger sibling of the Fuse.</p><p>People were out helping others fix problems with their Fuses. Lots of experts in the group were providing tips on how to use features on the Fuse and showing people the ways they modded their units to make them more to their liking. </p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZuSoUHIhVs8/YVheBoA2SaI/AAAAAAAAX-o/trVHutMyscMGy1NT8ZSShl6BuhiRtM95wCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1329.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Fusing in the Ozarks - Pot Luck" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZuSoUHIhVs8/YVheBoA2SaI/AAAAAAAAX-o/trVHutMyscMGy1NT8ZSShl6BuhiRtM95wCLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_1329.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KOfPuAjsPic/YVhdr7NbFYI/AAAAAAAAX-Y/13o8M-1JJrkHu8uMNXE-HwMgZLUL0USCgCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1335.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Fusing in the Ozarks" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KOfPuAjsPic/YVhdr7NbFYI/AAAAAAAAX-Y/13o8M-1JJrkHu8uMNXE-HwMgZLUL0USCgCLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_1335.jpg" width="200" /></a><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XzB4sQHM6uc/YVhdsO7D9nI/AAAAAAAAX-c/rysAyCQlDHIeD2yFCgW-Xo92Tg99GvUBwCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1337.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Fusing in the Ozarks" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XzB4sQHM6uc/YVhdsO7D9nI/AAAAAAAAX-c/rysAyCQlDHIeD2yFCgW-Xo92Tg99GvUBwCLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_1337.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><br /><p>The festivities started at 5:30 with the Pot Luck dinner. As always, there was a huge amount of food, probably twice what was needed. And everything I tried was really good. It is amazing what can be created given the small size of the units. Things in crock pots and I even saw some bread.</p><p>After dinner, Rebecca, the organizer of the Rally did introductions and started off the event. We have people from as far away as Florida and California and everywhere in between. It is amazing to see this many Fuses in one spot. There were going to be more be there were a number of last minute cancellations and with COVID going around and other health issues I was happy to see this many.</p><p>Lee from Winnebago gave a short talk about what he was going to talk about on Saturday and got mobbed with questions. Lots of people are really interested in the Ekko he brought with him that has all sorts of cool features and things we recommended would be nice in a Fuse but I think the universal consensus was that they were not as interested in the cassette toilet. That was not an idea from the Fuse community.</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p>Don Pacehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13290023999226091298noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5578959524496776874.post-88998159876100575812021-10-03T21:11:00.000-04:002021-10-03T21:11:51.237-04:00Harrison KOA Holiday<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NAFkvme6rgk/YVhkBUDjxgI/AAAAAAAAX-w/8Ya_UwEfYgs-wDpTlLPT93xWnFJ99LT_wCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1345.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Harrison KOA" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NAFkvme6rgk/YVhkBUDjxgI/AAAAAAAAX-w/8Ya_UwEfYgs-wDpTlLPT93xWnFJ99LT_wCLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_1345.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><p>Our Fall 2021, Fusing in the Ozarks Rally, was held at the Harrison KOA Holiday in Harrison, Arkansas. They took care of our every need and were always around maintaining the grounds and keeping the place spick and span. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mVOLn2r9k-c/YVhkRN2eCzI/AAAAAAAAX-4/ReOH6KzMC9UR9NFRet9bkJQ0RFzjS_NQACLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1341.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Harrison KOA" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mVOLn2r9k-c/YVhkRN2eCzI/AAAAAAAAX-4/ReOH6KzMC9UR9NFRet9bkJQ0RFzjS_NQACLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_1341.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><p>Everything was just as perfect as you would want with nothing out of place. When you needed something they were right at your site in minutes. This is as nice and clean of a campground as we have stayed. They even had the grounds decorated for Halloween on the first of October.</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4uILUvFIaKU/YVhkfCo4f_I/AAAAAAAAX-8/KxmN1kVjgfQEQfjIpEhpYmqf0b5QsnmPgCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1338.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Harrison KOA" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4uILUvFIaKU/YVhkfCo4f_I/AAAAAAAAX-8/KxmN1kVjgfQEQfjIpEhpYmqf0b5QsnmPgCLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_1338.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><p>All of the sites were very level, there were 72 channels of cable TV and some of the best WiFi I have seen in an RV Park. There was a new wrinkle for us at the KOA. Many of the spots were pull-in, not back-in. We have never had a pull-in site but it really does not matter and made setting up camp a little less stressful. If you have a trailer or a big class-A , not to worry, there were lots of pull-through sites as well.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cGsxbDr-aSM/YVpTVouuyFI/AAAAAAAAX_c/cgQJ5WjmV9MsPuMH76gTMV5M5ougeMdwgCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1368.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Harrison KOA Showers" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cGsxbDr-aSM/YVpTVouuyFI/AAAAAAAAX_c/cgQJ5WjmV9MsPuMH76gTMV5M5ougeMdwgCLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_1368.jpg" width="200" /></a><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-98SifphyQXQ/YVpTVhCSPPI/AAAAAAAAX_Y/HCdT8TBYZ0kJrAalqTiIFcEKnNjOaEfHQCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1369.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Harrison KOA Showers" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-98SifphyQXQ/YVpTVhCSPPI/AAAAAAAAX_Y/HCdT8TBYZ0kJrAalqTiIFcEKnNjOaEfHQCLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_1369.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><p><br /></p><p>So, as I always point out, the real grade of a RV park is the showers. How did the Harrison KOA make out. Perfect Score. The bathrooms were spotless. The showers large and there was plenty of hot water.</p><p>The campground is located right on Highway 412 so it is really easy to get to. There is a little bit of highway noise but there will soon be some more sites further away from the road that will be quieter. </p><p>On our way out I filled up the propane on the Fuse. They were able to do it without any problems or confusion. It worked out to be very convenient and we were off without any hassle. This was a perfect place for a Rally, to spend a number of days or just to spend the night.</p><p><br /></p>Don Pacehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13290023999226091298noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5578959524496776874.post-80750826963953334422021-10-01T14:11:00.000-04:002021-10-01T14:11:20.269-04:00Heading to the Fusing in the Ozarks Fall 2021 Rally - Day 3 - To Harrison, AR<p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fgBYLuOIm7A/YVclmnUm0_I/AAAAAAAAX-M/9Hz-SPxKxecb8XrepY4jRGmOc7YrmOreACLcBGAsYHQ/s1064/Screen%2BShot%2B2021-10-01%2Bat%2B11.12.29%2BAM.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1064" data-original-width="970" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fgBYLuOIm7A/YVclmnUm0_I/AAAAAAAAX-M/9Hz-SPxKxecb8XrepY4jRGmOc7YrmOreACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/Screen%2BShot%2B2021-10-01%2Bat%2B11.12.29%2BAM.png" width="292" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p>We took our time on Thursday morning getting on the road. Well she decided to take us on something called the <a href="https://www.arkansas.com/ozark/tours-experiences/pig-trail-scenic-byway">Pig Trail Scenic Byway</a>. I still do not know why on one day Siri picks one way to go and on another day she picks another way but we just follow the advice. </p><p>When we made our plans the maps app showed us going straight north from Russellville up HWY 7 on the 2hr 11min path but there must have been construction or an accident or Siri was just messing with us on Thursday so off to the Pig Trail, we went. The longest option when I took this snapshot the day after.</p><p>Sorry there are no pictures, I was holding on for dear life. It actually was not that bad in the Fuse but I do not know how a large Class A would do it. After we left it we saw several heading that way and were passed by several Semi trucks so I and sure they made it. There were a number of switchbacks and curves where the speed limit was 15mph and I would guess the average speed limit was 35mph. It actually was a beautiful drive but as Sonya and myself agreed, we would have hate to have done it at night or in the rain.</p><p>So how did we do on day 3, performance wise. We drove 181 miles and got 13.5mpg. I actually think that was a good MPG rating this time since it was all up and down. Town/Haul mode in the Fuse got used almost all of the way.</p><p>We had lunch at a McDonalds in Huntsville. After lunch the road straightened out and we had a nice ride into Harrison and the KOA. Showing our age, we actually have been through Harrison before when we went to the Rally in Branson a few years back. We remembered when we saw the Walmart and the Arby's we ate at last time. </p>Don Pacehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13290023999226091298noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5578959524496776874.post-69321138281139730882021-10-01T11:03:00.000-04:002021-10-01T11:03:24.888-04:00Ivy's Cove RV Retreat, Russellville, AR<p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eoT9nMmCaMw/YVcfC-8p7vI/AAAAAAAAX9U/2LEam7CDlNUufPdUqSUlzdzBx91Vt0siwCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1321.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Ivy's Cove RV Retreat" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eoT9nMmCaMw/YVcfC-8p7vI/AAAAAAAAX9U/2LEam7CDlNUufPdUqSUlzdzBx91Vt0siwCLcBGAsYHQ/w320-h240/IMG_1321.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p>We spent the night at <a href="http://www.ivyscove.com/home.html">Ivy's Cove RV Retreat in Russellville, AR</a>. This was a very nice RV park just off of I-30. It was still far enough away from the Interstate so you could not hear the traffic. It was a really nice campground and we would not hesitate to spend the night again.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IxUf3UMVqBc/YVcfmEinI9I/AAAAAAAAX9c/KNvaM1hTJLQc8U2oJrQ2GN3vHSVrRi0ZgCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1316.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Winnebago Fuse @ Ivys cove Rv Park" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IxUf3UMVqBc/YVcfmEinI9I/AAAAAAAAX9c/KNvaM1hTJLQc8U2oJrQ2GN3vHSVrRi0ZgCLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_1316.jpg" width="200" /></a> <a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0r_1iCj81hc/YVcf4jILIuI/AAAAAAAAX9k/7tzDx5_e3egSD3fZ9K3It5Vnc3rvxbFRQCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1323.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Beagle Bus at Ivy's cove RV retreat" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0r_1iCj81hc/YVcf4jILIuI/AAAAAAAAX9k/7tzDx5_e3egSD3fZ9K3It5Vnc3rvxbFRQCLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_1323.jpg" width="200" /></a><br /><br /></div><p>We were in a very large pull through site. Nice and level. To get an appreciation for the size, all of our neighbors were full size (40'+) Class A motorhomes. We looked very small compared to the other motorhomes on our row. Our Fuse had picked up some grime from being on the road so I was able to give the Fuse a quick spray down and make it look respectable again.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KUXFGwl9O5s/YVchaXvWmgI/AAAAAAAAX9s/p7wxCPaojwUJNN3AlQ8hsWb10rAZjdcuACLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1322.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Ivy's cove rv retreat" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KUXFGwl9O5s/YVchaXvWmgI/AAAAAAAAX9s/p7wxCPaojwUJNN3AlQ8hsWb10rAZjdcuACLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_1322.jpg" width="200" /></a><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uQZbK6tF3Js/YVcha8X0ppI/AAAAAAAAX90/SAsyjuX3KeUZitxSuHTFwpI85Z8v0_NsgCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1324.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Ivy's cove rv retreat" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uQZbK6tF3Js/YVcha8X0ppI/AAAAAAAAX90/SAsyjuX3KeUZitxSuHTFwpI85Z8v0_NsgCLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_1324.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lktu9Vp4kSs/YVchaUGDxUI/AAAAAAAAX9w/YOnNmbbr9lUazjDeIuN8EtNkbllSCSWRQCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1325.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Ivy's cove rv retreat" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lktu9Vp4kSs/YVchaUGDxUI/AAAAAAAAX9w/YOnNmbbr9lUazjDeIuN8EtNkbllSCSWRQCLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_1325.jpg" width="200" /></a><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Hp49rJTLt84/YVcha1x835I/AAAAAAAAX94/jKSoRhOAPzMNA4_93ZzI9S3rFmPIU1hyQCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1326.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Ivy's cove rv retreat" border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="200" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Hp49rJTLt84/YVcha1x835I/AAAAAAAAX94/jKSoRhOAPzMNA4_93ZzI9S3rFmPIU1hyQCLcBGAsYHQ/w150-h200/IMG_1326.jpg" width="150" /></a></div><p>As I point out the most important feature of an RV park is the bath house and showers. After a great night we headed out through the backroads of Mississippi to see Fort Curtis, a reconstructed Civil War Fort in Helena, AR. </p><p>Well we listened to Siri and Apple Maps drove down a number of farm roads, backroads and saw a huge number of Farms growing everything from soybeans, to wheat to cotton. We even found a bump over some railroad tracks where I think the Fuse was airborne. Think of the Fuse taking the place the General Lee in the Dukes of Hazzard. Decided to come to almost a stop before going over any more train tracks after that.</p><p>We got to the Fort and it was closed. It looked nice but it was locked up due we guess to COVID. We ate some lunch in the Fort Parking Lot and then went on a tour of the farms of Arkansas. It is always amazing to me the difference in the land on one side of the Mississippi River and the other. </p><p>We drove for a while and arrived at our destination at the Ivy Cove RV retreat in Russellville, AR.</p><p>We thought that Russellville would be a small town but it was not. Big and bustling with every store you could imagine and it was the home of Arkansas Tech University. Right down I-40 from Little Rock. The best part was the restaurants all seemed open so KFC was for dinner.</p><p>So on Wednesday we traveled a little over 323 miles. We got 16.5mpg</p>Don Pacehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13290023999226091298noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5578959524496776874.post-27844304973280115722021-10-01T09:57:00.001-04:002021-10-01T09:57:40.348-04:00Heading to the Fusing in the Ozarks Fall 2021 Rally - Day 1<p> </p><p>Well we are off to the Fusing in the Ozarks Rally in Harrison, AR. Our first time out now that Summer is over. We are super excited and heading down the road. </p><p>Our first stop this trip is in Tupelo, MS at the Campground at Barns Crossing. You can read about this camp groups at: <a href="http://confusedrv.blogspot.com/2019/09/campground-at-barnes-crossing.html">http://confusedrv.blogspot.com/2019/09/campground-at-barnes-crossing.html</a>. We have stayed at this campground several times and it is a good one just off of I-22. Take note that this campground does not take credit cards so bring a checkbook or cash.</p><p>With COVID still around it is a little different traveling. We normally stop for takeout once or twice a day. We are finding that this is a hit or miss proposition. Going up restaurants in Alabama all seemed to be open more or less normal. Once in Mississippi, the fast food restaurants were drive through only. So We got lunch at an Arby's in Dothan, Al but missed out on KFC chicken just outside of Tupelo. I guess I could try bringing the FUSE through the drive through, but I am not really that brave.</p><p>So on Tuesday, We went from Tallahaseee to Tupelo. I won't report on the milage on the first tank of gas since it was a partial, a lot of idling in the driveway and up and down the road around the house. We drove a total on Tuesday of 425 miles. And on the second tank of diesel we got 14.97 mpg going from Dothan, Al to Tupelo, MS. Not too bad for mostly Interstate Driving at 75mph.</p>Don Pacehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13290023999226091298noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5578959524496776874.post-20749269279183328612021-06-05T19:25:00.002-04:002021-06-05T19:25:12.514-04:00Retirement<p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6c7r-mp9zBw/YLwHpKVg6sI/AAAAAAAAX6I/6PFfoHHks-clRQ5OL43emYPoZyVWtdE-gCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0848.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6c7r-mp9zBw/YLwHpKVg6sI/AAAAAAAAX6I/6PFfoHHks-clRQ5OL43emYPoZyVWtdE-gCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_0848.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p>I retired Friday (6/4/2021)! The ATS is the device that selects if the generator or the shore power plug is what is powering the FUSE 110v loads. I wrote earlier about the ATS at: <a href="http://confusedrv.blogspot.com/2016/02/automatic-transfer-switch.html">http://confusedrv.blogspot.com/2016/02/automatic-transfer-switch.html</a>. The one in our fuse is a 41300 and info can be found at: <a href="https://rvpower.southwire.com/products/transfer-switches/30a-hardwire-model-41300-basic-automatic-transfer-switch/">https://rvpower.southwire.com/products/transfer-switches/30a-hardwire-model-41300-basic-automatic-transfer-switch/</a></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-srcav-heQto/YKpwip_lwvI/AAAAAAAAX00/2VS9afH1xs4y9NmR6Avk0ijB-WjptsDJQCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1063.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="ATS With cover on" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-srcav-heQto/YKpwip_lwvI/AAAAAAAAX00/2VS9afH1xs4y9NmR6Avk0ijB-WjptsDJQCLcBGAsYHQ/w320-h240/IMG_1063.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><p>Big problem is when the ATS fails you get 0 power from either. Oh, and and an acrid smell comes out (and possibly a small amount of smoke). For me it happened just outside of Dallas, Texas and caused us to cut our trip a couple of days short. BTW - your 12volt system will still work if this happens, just no recharging the batteries from the shore power or generator so the lights stilled work.</p><p>So how can you avoid this. Well a good practice is to inspect the ATS once (or twice) a year. What you are going to need is a flashlight, a small screwdriver and a 5/32" hex key/driver - Now let's go over the steps. </p><p>The ATS is located in the electrical box with the shore power cord. It is a pretty tight fit in there.</p><p><b>Important Note: Make sure the shore power is unplugged and the generator is off. This is electrical and you can get hurt if the power is on.</b></p><p>First step is to take the cover off of the ATS. It unsnaps from the top of the cover. There are some keys at the bottom of the unit. Be gentle, but it comes off pretty easy.</p><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pE1GTKmLykk/YKpxLkl0c9I/AAAAAAAAX1I/9yc-i0W0694BE_l0t2EtJetKdwd57RUIQCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1057.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="ATS Cover Off" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pE1GTKmLykk/YKpxLkl0c9I/AAAAAAAAX1I/9yc-i0W0694BE_l0t2EtJetKdwd57RUIQCLcBGAsYHQ/w320-h240/IMG_1057.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p>Once open, you need to take a look at the wires. If any of the wires looks burned, the wire insulation looks bubbled, there is any heat damage you have failed the inspection. Get this fixed now. If everything looks ok, then continue on.</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-X_apqbGyOMk/YKpwyO_ux_I/AAAAAAAAX08/5yh1UqREGDE7wlQL-Qlxxsi31kBFu1R3QCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1056.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="ATS with Cover off" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-X_apqbGyOMk/YKpwyO_ux_I/AAAAAAAAX08/5yh1UqREGDE7wlQL-Qlxxsi31kBFu1R3QCLcBGAsYHQ/w320-h240/IMG_1056.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><p></p><p>The next thing you need to check is if the connections are tight. On the ATS you will see several electrical relays with hex screws. There are 8 of these connections. Check to make sure these are tight. Don't over tighten. If they are already tight, you are good. If they are loose tighten them down to 30 in-lbs. This is listed on the cover so refer to what it says if there is a change between model revisions. </p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PCbXsyaxTfY/YLJPJmiy60I/AAAAAAAAX4c/U_yNiaOYTtggft2TfuiJBL2xS05Cn-JOwCLcBGAsYHQ/s375/IMG_1056.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="FUSE ATS annotated" border="0" data-original-height="368" data-original-width="375" height="314" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PCbXsyaxTfY/YLJPJmiy60I/AAAAAAAAX4c/U_yNiaOYTtggft2TfuiJBL2xS05Cn-JOwCLcBGAsYHQ/w320-h314/IMG_1056.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div> <p></p><p>How much is 30 in-lbs? What does that mean? Tighten, but do not crank it down. Don't use any leverage from your wrist. You will put that much force on the connector just by using your hand without any leverage.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gU5xRvCbzok/YKpxiXKtmEI/AAAAAAAAX1U/SkQLKf3dAOYgGbNjwlfsugRPqC4Tec5hQCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1058.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="T handle Hex key" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gU5xRvCbzok/YKpxiXKtmEI/AAAAAAAAX1U/SkQLKf3dAOYgGbNjwlfsugRPqC4Tec5hQCLcBGAsYHQ/w320-h240/IMG_1058.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p>I purchased a<a href="<iframe style="width:120px;height:240px;" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" src="//ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?ServiceVersion=20070822&OneJS=1&Operation=GetAdHtml&MarketPlace=US&source=ac&ref=qf_sp_asin_til&ad_type=product_link&tracking_id=confusedrv-20&marketplace=amazon&amp;region=US&placement=B004ITOH9Y&asins=B004ITOH9Y&linkId=b4466a1fda6c79f293ec26c1d93c9b63&show_border=false&link_opens_in_new_window=false&price_color=333333&title_color=0066c0&bg_color=ffffff"> </iframe>" target="_blank"> T-handle hex key</a> just to do this with. This was a tip that was pointed out at the last Fuse Rally. It makes this job much easier than with traditional L shaped wrenches.</p><p>Also check the screws on the terminals on the top of the ATS. On mine this required a small screwdriver. If everything is tight then great, otherwise, tighten them down but again, do not over tighten.</p><p>At this point you are done. Put the cover back on and you are good to go. If you need repairs, take care of them. </p><p>This is a good thing to inspect regularly. It only takes 5-10 min and can save you from trouble down the road. At the Spring 2021 Fuse rally, Bob Garbe went around and inspected them for folks (13 if I recall correctly) and it was greatly appreciated by all. </p><p><br /></p>Don Pacehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13290023999226091298noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5578959524496776874.post-3909259894119036802021-05-23T18:36:00.001-04:002021-05-23T18:36:13.068-04:00Fuse/Transit Cabin Air Filter<p> Did you know that your you can install a cabin air filter in your Winnebago Fuse? Though it did not come with one installed from the factory, the Ford Transit is equipped to have one. Our vehicle is sold all over the world and in Europe they are required to have one. In the US, not so much so Ford does not install it. </p><p>So if you want cleaner cabin air, travel in a dusty area or just do not like so much exhaust smell from the interstate; it is a pretty easy thing to do. There is not a Ford part number in the North America per my dealer, but thanks to the magic of Amazon they are readily available. I purchased this one:</p><p><br /></p><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe frameborder="0" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" scrolling="no" src="//ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?ServiceVersion=20070822&OneJS=1&Operation=GetAdHtml&MarketPlace=US&source=ac&ref=qf_sp_asin_til&ad_type=product_link&tracking_id=confusedrv-20&marketplace=amazon&region=US&placement=B07NDX63P9&asins=B07NDX63P9&linkId=1a55c4a366b47f374c5dd2df09f11bd2&show_border=false&link_opens_in_new_window=false&price_color=333333&title_color=0066c0&bg_color=ffffff" style="height: 240px; width: 120px;">
</iframe></div><p></p><p><br /></p><p>So once it arrived I needed to install it and it is a very easy project. 10 min or so. If you have ever replaced the cabin air filter in your car you are already experienced since it is the same process. Just like a car, the cabin air filter is located behind the glove box.</p><p>First step is to empty the glove box and swing it down out of the way. In addition to all of the fun at the rally, we saw some sites and had a blast just getting out of the house. </p><p>The main thing we learned on this trip was that we were rusty. After 16 months of not using the Fuse some things had to be re-learned. Where I use to be able to back right up into a space, it took me several tries each time to put the Fuse where I wanted it. I am out of practice.</p><p>I also found out I was out of practice writing the blog. I forgot to take many pictures, though that is not new. I also need to find my "voice" again as I am writing. It will all come back as I get in the swing.</p><p>Some of the highlights:</p><p>We drove 1714.8 miles in 10 days.</p><p>We drove 37 hours</p><p>Used 105.8 gallons of diesel and got a combined average of 16.2 miles per gallon. Worst tank was 13.2 miles per gallon (our first tank) and the best was 16.6 miles per gallon (our last tank). I did notice that the worse mileage came from tanks we purchased at Murphy (Walmart) stations. Not sure if this is a coincidence but I have noticed this before. </p><p>On this trip, I kept the speed at or below the speed limit. We were in no hurry so this time no speeding. As we all know, the Fuse likes a constant speed in the 45-60mph range for the best milage so my staying slow probably helped things.</p><p>Things that went well:</p><blockquote style="border: none; margin: 0px 0px 0px 40px; padding: 0px;"><p style="text-align: left;">The AT&T cellular hotspot worked well everywhere. We were able to stream TV every night on the Firestick and use our computers with no problems. Even in the state parks in the middle of the woods.</p></blockquote><blockquote style="border: none; margin: 0px 0px 0px 40px; padding: 0px;"><p style="text-align: left;">The new A/C worked well and was still quiet. Two thumbs up here.</p></blockquote><blockquote style="border: none; margin: 0px 0px 0px 40px; padding: 0px;"><p style="text-align: left;">The food we brought. Some junk food, but great for a change after being pretty good about eating healthy for the last year.</p></blockquote><blockquote style="border: none; margin: 0px 0px 0px 40px; padding: 0px;"><p style="text-align: left;">We had steak one night and the folding grill worked out well. </p></blockquote><blockquote style="border: none; margin: 0px 0px 0px 40px; padding: 0px;"><p style="text-align: left;">The Fuse. We had a great time and still enjoyed our little motorhome and the way it drives and maneuvers around small places, yet it's still big enough to not feel cramped when stuck inside in the rain.</p></blockquote><p>Things that did NOT go as well:</p><blockquote style="border: none; margin: 0px 0px 0px 40px; padding: 0px;"><p style="text-align: left;">Several things broke. We found a leak in the front passenger corner when it rained and the Fuse was nose down. Will need to re-seal the cap. The rear TV speaker is not working so we had to use our little bluetooth speaker. One of the tank heating pads came loose and will need to be repaired (taped it back up with gorilla tape and that fixed it temporarily). Lastly, we had a scare with the check engine light (DEF complaint) but it went and stayed off after a driving and a few engine cycles.</p></blockquote><blockquote style="border: none; margin: 0px 0px 0px 40px; padding: 0px;"><p style="text-align: left;">COVID restrictions at some places made us break our normal routine. We normally pick up a breakfast biscuit in the mornings at McDonalds or Burger King or something similar. Half of the places we stopped at for breakfast were closed or only open to drive through. Though small, I am not brave enough to go through a drive through in the Fuse.</p></blockquote><blockquote style="border: none; margin: 0px 0px 0px 40px; padding: 0px;"><p style="text-align: left;">The charcoal I had in the Fuse for the last year would not light/burn. I forgot charcoal is hydroscopic and has been pulling in moisture for 16 months. I had picked up some more charcoal when I got the steaks "just in case" and "in case" happened.</p></blockquote><p>Overall we had a great trip. Now that retirement is close we did not feel as rushed as in the past so the experience was much more relaxing. </p><p>So our trip experience starts on April 26 here: <span color="rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.52)" face="Roboto, RobotoDraft, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif" style="background-color: white; caret-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.52); font-size: 14px;"><a href="https://confusedrv.blogspot.com/2021/04/take-this-covid.html">https://confusedrv.blogspot.com/2021/04/take-this-covid.html</a> and ends on May 5 here: </span><span color="rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.52)" face="Roboto, RobotoDraft, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif" style="background-color: white; caret-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.52); font-size: 14px;"><a href="https://confusedrv.blogspot.com/2021/05/buc-ees-and-jefferson-davis-capture-park.html">https://confusedrv.blogspot.com/2021/05/buc-ees-and-jefferson-davis-capture-park.html</a></span></p><p> </p>Don Pacehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13290023999226091298noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5578959524496776874.post-50622169409675046032021-05-05T21:03:00.000-04:002021-05-05T21:03:07.685-04:00Buc-ee's and Jefferson Davis Capture ParkWe left High Falls State park on our way back to Tallahassee. It is a pretty easy drive. South on I-75 and then turn South on to US-319 and straight to Tallahassee. We left at 9:30 and got home at 3:30. <div><br /></div><div>On the way home we made a couple of stops. First stop was at Buc-ee's. Bec-ee's is the super center of all gas stations. They pride themselves on their clean bathrooms and in addition have BBQ, and all sorts of stuff. It just can not be described. Once only available in Texas, Buc-ee's has expanded to several other states. The one we stopped at was just South of Warner Robbins, GA right on I-75. First we filled up the Fuse with diesel from the 100's of pumps they have (price was pretty good as well). Then we got breakfast biscuits, some Buc-ee bites (think caramel coated Cheetos), fudge and some drinks. Not exactly our diet but since it was vacation why not.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wnjBvKL5plQ/YJMi6fp11rI/AAAAAAAAXzk/kwSTpvyow1o034EtqSkxSAKT9QiYXaPGQCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1035.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Buc-ee's" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wnjBvKL5plQ/YJMi6fp11rI/AAAAAAAAXzk/kwSTpvyow1o034EtqSkxSAKT9QiYXaPGQCLcBGAsYHQ/w320-h240/IMG_1035.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Then we continued down the road. Another half hour down the road was something we had been going by for years. A sign pointing the way to a the historic site where Jefferson Davis was captured by Union cavalry. About 15 min off the Interstate is <a href="https://www.exploregeorgia.org/fitzgerald/arts-culture/museums/jefferson-davis-memorial-state-historic-site">Jefferson Davis Memorial Historic Site</a>. This is a small park with a museum. A monument on the spot of the capture, a picnic area and some historic artifacts. The one thing that impressed me was for years (70ish) after the war, the site was marked with just a iron wagon axle stuck into the ground. A historic site marking the end of the Civil War.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5hkDeaSbz9Q/YJMm7G3eY6I/AAAAAAAAXzs/-T5vVyyv1OEsg9OxmatlmYO8j5EsOUwKQCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1037.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Jefferson Davis Surrender Site" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5hkDeaSbz9Q/YJMm7G3eY6I/AAAAAAAAXzs/-T5vVyyv1OEsg9OxmatlmYO8j5EsOUwKQCLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_1037.jpg" width="200" /></a><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MJvTf6QfGhc/YJMnAWbnvfI/AAAAAAAAXzw/3aZvqOO1o_UT_fzGgJebdkP8gpPKtkDtgCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1039.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Jefferson Davis Surrender Site" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MJvTf6QfGhc/YJMnAWbnvfI/AAAAAAAAXzw/3aZvqOO1o_UT_fzGgJebdkP8gpPKtkDtgCLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_1039.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">After that we got back on the road and continued on to Tallahassee and home. </div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><br /><div><br /></div>Don Pacehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13290023999226091298noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5578959524496776874.post-47259201294770065792021-05-05T21:02:00.001-04:002021-05-05T21:02:58.574-04:00High Falls State Park<p> High Falls State Park is located right off I-75 between Atlanta and Macon. This is another nice GA state park with camping and pretty nice sites. We stayed in the River Campground area. There is also a separate Lakeside Campground area. The lakeside area is much smaller but near all of the activities. The River area is larger (more sites) and situated along the river.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-r_tmYZMfeAY/YJHxU9lSQXI/AAAAAAAAXys/mtjPXg9Jx-0pyU089x4p1yU0ZMU-fmQvwCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1017.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="High Falls State Park" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-r_tmYZMfeAY/YJHxU9lSQXI/AAAAAAAAXys/mtjPXg9Jx-0pyU089x4p1yU0ZMU-fmQvwCLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_1017.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p>The park is situated at some waterfalls where an old mill site with large lake was constructed. This park is located on the top of Lookout Mountain, South of Chattanooga. </p><p>We traveled from Pennyrile State Park to here through some very beautiful country. Mostly on the Interstate. The Fuse did very well. We went up and down some serious grades without slowing down. Most 18 wheelers were struggling and we just kept fuseing along. And believe it or not, the gas mileage was not impacted to any extent.</p><p>Once we left the Interstate, access to get to the Park was over some harrowing roads. Narrow with shear drop-offs. In the Fuse no problems. It takes these roads like Sonya's SUV.</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rSz4A-uazEs/YJHiHt0O1CI/AAAAAAAAXyA/pcVYMyLTkZg0kxJXlMrbKomONirXD5UiACLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1007.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Cloudland Canyon State Park" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rSz4A-uazEs/YJHiHt0O1CI/AAAAAAAAXyA/pcVYMyLTkZg0kxJXlMrbKomONirXD5UiACLcBGAsYHQ/w320-h240/IMG_1007.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><p></p><p>The campground was nice. Sites were level and well kept. We had rain so we did not get out too much to look around. Lily still got some good sniffing in as always and the waling between showers got us some decent exercise.</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-djJwXxYJ3RY/YJHh9ckonMI/AAAAAAAAXx8/vbMVnlVt0fsmbFCZhA94FeWDV6cgbGh6QCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1010.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Cloudland Canyon State Park sites" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-djJwXxYJ3RY/YJHh9ckonMI/AAAAAAAAXx8/vbMVnlVt0fsmbFCZhA94FeWDV6cgbGh6QCLcBGAsYHQ/w320-h240/IMG_1010.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><p></p><p>The bathhouse was reasonably nice. Grade given was a state park B. Clean and well kept, reasonable modern. Plenty of water pressure and plenty of hot water. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RLpYKj5a_WE/YJHibxvuzXI/AAAAAAAAXyM/9d0IrkwF0nAmmklDjdbeE3BqKVJWtE9FwCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1008.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Cloudland Canyon State Park Showers" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RLpYKj5a_WE/YJHibxvuzXI/AAAAAAAAXyM/9d0IrkwF0nAmmklDjdbeE3BqKVJWtE9FwCLcBGAsYHQ/w320-h240/IMG_1008.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">We left mid-morning and being on top of the mountain there was no rain. Why, because we were in the clouds. Visibility was very limited, 100 feet or less. As we went down the mountain, we left the fog and entered the rain. Eventually it stopped and we went on our way.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">We stopped North of Atlanta at Cabellas just before noon to look around and eat some lunch. I got a new $5.00 Cabellas T-Shirt. Got to love a bargain. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Sonya noticed one of the tank heating pads was dragging and I got to get underneath and secure it. Glad I had the duct tape. Well if nothing else I now have a topic for a new blog entry in the future when I fix it.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Then there was a downpour. I mean real gully washer. A number of folks took refuge in the parking lot along with us to wait it out. We were going to stop in Kennesaw at a museum be decided that we would do that later due to the rain and we would go on to our stop on the other side of Atlanta.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Once the rain was over we went on down I-75 through Atlanta. This time was new for us. Since it was still raining some and traffic was disrupted from the earlier rain we got to go through 20 miles of suburban and downtown Atlanta at 35-40 miles per hour. Best part was I was getting 18mpg. Worst part, It was still white knuckle driving in the traffic.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PpJKzDkpsZM/YJHo_pP_EuI/AAAAAAAAXyU/b9D6CgeKHWoFCp7q71fR5rOC0VF15BK7QCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1014.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PpJKzDkpsZM/YJHo_pP_EuI/AAAAAAAAXyU/b9D6CgeKHWoFCp7q71fR5rOC0VF15BK7QCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_1014.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><br />Don Pacehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13290023999226091298noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5578959524496776874.post-41617517613202386012021-05-03T18:35:00.001-04:002021-05-03T18:35:39.413-04:00Pennyrile Forest State Resort Campground<p> On our way back home from the Fuse rally, after the LST museum, we stopped for the night at <a href="https://parks.ky.gov/dawson-springs/parks/resort/pennyrile-forest-state-resort-park">Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park</a>. </p><p><b>A tale of two campgrounds in one:</b></p><p>I have said multiple times that the Fuse is so small that I can always find a spot that is level by moving back and forth or side to side . I have now found a place where I could not. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-omwBCPjC1T8/YJBqi36i_CI/AAAAAAAAXxI/rs4lOJ9eR2clo-LHJBSCvaabtvw_fm69gCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0994.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Pennyrile Forest campground" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-omwBCPjC1T8/YJBqi36i_CI/AAAAAAAAXxI/rs4lOJ9eR2clo-LHJBSCvaabtvw_fm69gCLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_0994.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><p>The campground was pretty empty and the manager said to take any site we wanted. Well, we tried out 6 or seven sites that looked the closest to level and the best and I mean best we could do was get the bubble half in. None of the sites looked level. One camper I saw had 6 inches of blocks under one of the tires. An Allegro Bus had one tire completely (3 inches) off the ground with his levelers.</p><p>The original site we picked was next to the bathhouse. That was its only redeeming quality. The electrical and water at that site were pretty far away. Mud and drop-offs around the site to be mindful of. Not our cup of tea. </p><p>Note: If you were staying here the electric posts are shared so you will probably need an extension cord, the posts and water are not close to the sites. </p><p>The bath house gets a C grade for a state park. About normal. Functional and clean but that was about it. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-l3VqTfZe7Lo/YJBqKbMRm3I/AAAAAAAAXw0/240nFuR9ILUXy2ryMARarP9cSU2F-yN5gCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0995.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Pennyrile Forest bath house" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-l3VqTfZe7Lo/YJBqKbMRm3I/AAAAAAAAXw0/240nFuR9ILUXy2ryMARarP9cSU2F-yN5gCLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_0995.jpg" width="200" /></a><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lf65QjeFkUI/YJBqKdWT2QI/AAAAAAAAXw4/LcqJHWIW-V8lUAhaEwYH3CCnLvl3CWUOACLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0997.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Pennyrile Forest shower" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lf65QjeFkUI/YJBqKdWT2QI/AAAAAAAAXw4/LcqJHWIW-V8lUAhaEwYH3CCnLvl3CWUOACLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_0997.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p>So we wound up using a site towards the back and settled in for the night. 1/3 of the bubble in the center so we were OK but we could feel that we were off kilter. Some rain and wind over night rocked us to sleep.</p><p>The next morning we got up and were ready to leave. As I was walking Lily we walked around the turn around and saw another set of sites. They were labeled H1-8. These were Horse camping sites. Bring your horses and your RV and enjoy the trails. Well guess what, these sites were perfect. Pull through, full hookup, the electrical and water next to the sites, and in addition, a very nice bath house. Best of all , the sites were large and level. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wC2AuNDzZ6k/YJBq02EAvcI/AAAAAAAAXxQ/vcE_xnfMPo0GjAxtYmeYmq0xeh5b1z2OACLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1001.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Pennyrile Forest horse campsite" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wC2AuNDzZ6k/YJBq02EAvcI/AAAAAAAAXxQ/vcE_xnfMPo0GjAxtYmeYmq0xeh5b1z2OACLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_1001.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><br /><p>And then there was the bath house in this area. Not an A for a State Park, but an A for any campground. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eaKCQAGEVUQ/YJBrS9ZUwII/AAAAAAAAXxc/7_vKl6STFEEknfBeDKObkrJSMcMyDaLzgCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1002.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Pennyrile Forest Horse bath house" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eaKCQAGEVUQ/YJBrS9ZUwII/AAAAAAAAXxc/7_vKl6STFEEknfBeDKObkrJSMcMyDaLzgCLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_1002.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mzThi_QNG-4/YJBrSmg54DI/AAAAAAAAXxY/QDAI-CWiYiEHkUK0rHD-A4rhsrOFI9dKgCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1003.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Pennyrile Forest Horse bath house shower" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mzThi_QNG-4/YJBrSmg54DI/AAAAAAAAXxY/QDAI-CWiYiEHkUK0rHD-A4rhsrOFI9dKgCLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_1003.jpg" width="200" /></a><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ye3kKS1VVxY/YJBrSwU9LmI/AAAAAAAAXxg/YnjN_trnspEprVpxsxm0GgDbo4NYUgjaQCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1004.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Pennyrile Forest horse bath house inside" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ye3kKS1VVxY/YJBrSwU9LmI/AAAAAAAAXxg/YnjN_trnspEprVpxsxm0GgDbo4NYUgjaQCLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_1004.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p>After a poor night at the site we picked, I would actually stay here again, if I could get a site in the horse camping area.</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p>Don Pacehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13290023999226091298noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5578959524496776874.post-89149482704534050282021-05-03T18:35:00.000-04:002021-05-03T18:35:30.341-04:00LST 325 - The LST Ship MemorialSunday marked the end of the Fuse rally. Lots of goodbyes but some sites looking forward to the next one.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eHnKNsBRF9E/YI83ob7E8HI/AAAAAAAAXvY/XmksfC-kD1kESrFRYxiq1C6zEXnvVzTvgCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0961.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="LST Museum" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eHnKNsBRF9E/YI83ob7E8HI/AAAAAAAAXvY/XmksfC-kD1kESrFRYxiq1C6zEXnvVzTvgCLcBGAsYHQ/w320-h240/IMG_0961.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div>So we left mid-morning and went to Evansville, IL to see the<a href="https://lstmemorial.org"> LST 325 Museum ship</a>. This is a real working Landing Ship Tank from WWII that participated in the D-Day landings as well as action in North Africa and Italy. A true war hero and now preserved for all to come and see what these ships did to win the war. They even take it sailing every year up and down the Ohio River for tours in other cities.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TZ6a63rY20A/YI83xgR2vEI/AAAAAAAAXvc/vf9cSBTKTeIOq8cBfPckmTyV4-3b15whACLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0963.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="LST 325" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TZ6a63rY20A/YI83xgR2vEI/AAAAAAAAXvc/vf9cSBTKTeIOq8cBfPckmTyV4-3b15whACLcBGAsYHQ/w320-h240/IMG_0963.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>A note on parking your Fuse. There is good parking for RVs and cars but it is behind the Tropicana Casino. We had to circle the casino/hotel but by just following the signs we found great free parking for visitors to the ship. It was only block away. There is a aerial walkway over the street if the traffic is bad but I did not use it on a Sunday morning.</div><div><br /></div><div>I paid my admission and waited for the tour. Since this is a operational ship, you take a guided tour to see it. They are every hour on the hour while the ship is open and the tour takes about an hour. The guide is very knowledgeable and is one of the people who maintains the ship (a part of the crew, not just a tour guide). There were many of the volunteers working on upkeep the weekend I was there.</div><div><br /></div><div>It was a great tour. Instead of trying to describe it, I am just going to post some photos. I find it hard to fathom how people took a ship that was this small across the ocean. </div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-G1BZhkdt9Sk/YI839MFC6CI/AAAAAAAAXvk/2kJVhb-lljgQVHE1DS_rDXA2w1WM8lqYgCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0964.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; It is located just off I-57 just north of Benton. I mention Benton because Benton is 5 miles to the south and the location of the local Walmart and all sorts of restaurants. </p><p>The office, store, pool and showers were located in the main building. There is a pavilion and another set of restrooms/showers in the back along with the event pavilion. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-m7khaM54AC8/YI8u_q14J0I/AAAAAAAAXus/qxgIgHm_KyoBLWz0JY8QT7uykpZVCBBGwCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0953.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Whittington Woods office" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-m7khaM54AC8/YI8u_q14J0I/AAAAAAAAXus/qxgIgHm_KyoBLWz0JY8QT7uykpZVCBBGwCLcBGAsYHQ/w320-h240/IMG_0953.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p>The second set of showers were closed due to COVID but the ones at the main office were open. The morning was spent with more Q&A, some show and tell on the best things you have found for your Fuse (I took notes), presentations on boondocking, electrical and general fellowship. It is amazing that so many people can come together to discuss a little motorhome and have so much fellowship and enjoy each other so much. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OERXM38mN-Y/YI8qiTe4DII/AAAAAAAAXuM/aknjzrW7JMUb9zVIGkDtktVJYDyfdVNLwCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0946.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Fuse Rally day 2" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OERXM38mN-Y/YI8qiTe4DII/AAAAAAAAXuM/aknjzrW7JMUb9zVIGkDtktVJYDyfdVNLwCLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_0946.jpg" width="200" /></a><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-r1Xnn_lfzso/YI8qiaSyPKI/AAAAAAAAXuQ/vGdOUmca4wooKP-e2rJB3z9msZPG5NiPACLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0947.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Fuse Rally day 2" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-r1Xnn_lfzso/YI8qiaSyPKI/AAAAAAAAXuQ/vGdOUmca4wooKP-e2rJB3z9msZPG5NiPACLcBGAsYHQ/w200-h150/IMG_0947.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p>A challenge was put down by Paul Benson to find the loudest generator. After lunch several folks would walk around and check inside and outside to get readings on the noise all the coaches put out. Guess who won? Me, with the loudest generator noise inside the coach.</p><p>The afternoon was spent with people showing off their Fuses. Robert Garbe went around and checked ATS switches making sure the connections were tight and there was no apparent heat issues. Joyce N. had a generator problem and everyone stood around trying to get it started. Only one of us volunteered and was small to enough to get underneath. (Way to go Lisa.)</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-an4neyEnMk4/YI8sPwz6wbI/AAAAAAAAXuc/_sF9zxSJXNItzu8TwXC_PvISbs78ZA3PACLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0948.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Under the Fuse" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-an4neyEnMk4/YI8sPwz6wbI/AAAAAAAAXuc/_sF9zxSJXNItzu8TwXC_PvISbs78ZA3PACLcBGAsYHQ/w320-h240/IMG_0948.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p>After a great afternoon we had a catered dinner of pork chops (some of the best I have ever had) and wrapped up. For all her hard work, Rebecca was given a present. She had forgotten her peanut butter and some was presented to her for the trip back home.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4EUHTHHkH_k/YI8sYCWdzXI/AAAAAAAAXug/7YuLKssfecoQCuhvTWqTAWP6NexXjnq7ACLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0949.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Fuse Presentation" border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4EUHTHHkH_k/YI8sYCWdzXI/AAAAAAAAXug/7YuLKssfecoQCuhvTWqTAWP6NexXjnq7ACLcBGAsYHQ/w320-h240/IMG_0949.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p>Don Pacehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13290023999226091298noreply@blogger.com0
